Everyone remembers watching Little House on the Prairie. This endearing dramatic story ran from 1974 until 1983 and has remained one of the most admired and beloved accounts of early America. This series was inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder's classic book series, which has been popular with both children and adults since its first release some 70 years ago.

This study group will begin at the Center for Continuing Education with a presentation from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Mansfield, Missouri.  The second portion will be a book discussion on the book Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Biography, by William Anderson.  We will end this series at the Walton Arts Center with an innovative, uplifting musical staring Melissa Gilbert.

Gilbert, who played Laura for 10 years in the beloved television series, now stars as Ma. Families will fall in love all over again with these engaging stories about the struggles and accomplishments the Ingalls' family endured; their pioneering spirit and the values they held dear and on which this country was founded.

Have you ever wondered how our news comes to us, or how it is all put together for publication?  If so, this study group is for you!  Our first session will be at the KNWA studio, on the square, in the morning, followed by an afternoon tour at KUAF radio station.  For the second session, we will meet at the Northwest Arkansas Times offices to tour the building. Our guide will be the editor of the Northwest Arkansas Times.  During lunch Dr. Hoyt Purvis from the University of Arkansas will tie it all together as he gives us a clearer picture of how the press delivers the news.

Lunch is on your own on November 16 at 11:45 am at Tim’s Pizza on the square.   A catered lunch on November 18 will be served at the Newspaper office.

Join Chal Ragsdale, the Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Arkansas, as he takes you back to the days of The Rat Pack.  This high energy discussion will make you ask yourself, who were "The Rat Pack"? What was the significance of this loose knit group of entertainers? A social and cultural phenomenon of the 1960s, "The Rat Pack" is usually identified by the big three - Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., but there were other members as well, and their presence and influence cut across the entertainment and movie industries. They even had influence in JFK's White House! Join us in exploring the life and times of "The Rat Pack".  A performance raps up the class at the Walton Arts Center.
