Usually the word, “quilt,” conjures up an image of a traditional patchwork bed covering but there are other genres of quilts, the narrative art quilt, being one.  These quilts are not created as comforters for beds but as a means of expressing social, political or personal concerns.  The visual impact of a narrative art quilt may be bold and obvious to the eye, but in between the quilted trio of layers – the top, the back, and the batting – there is often a powerful story waiting to be told; poetry, eulogy, epiphany, rendered in cloth.
