New Member GatheringsOLLI hollow count (008)

The best way to spread the news about all the fun and exciting things happening at OLLI – U of A is through its members. Members are the best people to describe what OLLI is and the value it brings is to them.

The OLLI Membership Committee invites you to host, or coordinate, a new member gathering. New member gatherings are a great way to get together with friends, family and NWA newcomers and share with them information about OLLI courses, membership benefits, social activities, or introduce them to the great people that make our institute such a fun and valuable opportunity. Don’t forget that if you sign up new members you can earn rewards. Read how HERE.

If you would like to help grow the “O” by hosting or coordinating a new member party here is what you need to do:

TIPS FOR HOSTING NEW MEMBER GATHERINGS

1) Pick a Date

2) Choose a location – this can be at a home, restaurant or other location of your choosing. Keep in mind that will be helpful if the location has WIFI/Internet connection.

3) Determine number of Guests

4) Consider who to invite! This can be your friends, neighbors, family, church members, club members and so. Make sure to include other OLLI Members, instructors and staff for support.

5) Create your “very own personalized” sales pitch – What is OLLI…. Why OLLI is important to you…. Why are you an OLLI member….   Make it brief but heartfelt!

6) Collect Materials for Recruitment. Recruitment Packets will be available at the OLLI office (call ahead for pick up). Packet to include:

  • Class Schedule/Catalog
  • Brochures
  • OLLI Office phone number, email and location address

7) Host the Gathering. Have fun – Inform – Socialize – Sign them up!

  • It is helpful to have a computer and Wifi/internet connection available at the location so that new members can join on the spot!

8) Make sure you remind the new members to share YOUR name as the person who referred them!

9) Now its time to schedule your next gathering!
