This October, the Walton Arts Center is hosting Ballet Arkansas and OLLI members are invited to attend a special dress rehearsal.  Ballet Arkansas, the state’s renowned professional ballet company, has emerged as a dynamic presenter of diverse dance repertoire throughout the region, combining the beauty and grace of classical ballet with the innovation and athleticism of contemporary movement.  At the heart of the company, a magnetic ensemble of passionate artists display raw power, maturity and technical brilliance on stage.

The special dress rehearsal will be held Friday, Oct. 13 at 11:45am – 1:30pm.  Ballet Arkansas artistic director Michael Fothergill and asst. artistic director Catherine Garratt Fothergill will speak briefly about touring with this show and give a behind-the-scenes look at Emergence.  A dress rehearsal will follow.

The program is free to attend, but registration is required by emailing Meghan Foehl, Engagement Coordinator, at mfoehl@waltonartscenter.org or by calling 479.571.2766.

Emergence brings the depth and range of Ballet Arkansas to the forefront.  Highlighted within the program is the regional hit Under the Lights by Chris Stuart, set to the music of Johnny Cash.  Also featured is the timeless Valse Fantaisie by George Balanchine, a world premiere by 2017 Winter Visions winner Mariana Oliveira, and other critically acclaimed classical and contemporary repertoire that provides for a captivating evening of dance.  A compelling discussion with award-winning choreographer Mariana Oliveira, led by Artistic Director Michael Fothergill, will precede the performance.
